Pori Lost in Dhaka

A young couple and their seven-year-old daughter, Pori, leave their village behind in search of a better life and reach Tejgaon Railway Station in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is 7 a.m., and the station is bursting with the chaotic energy of the morning rush. Pori vanishes into the crowd in a heartbeat. Desperate parents, in a panic, search every corner of the station with the help of the station expert.
When hope starts to fade, they connect with local NGOs and report to the police station. After hours of anguish and confusion, they face a grim reality: cases like these are often associated with child trafficking. Months go by, with no sign of Pori, even though investigations remain ongoing. Her disappearance joins the growing list, but the numbers are just that- a number- in a country
where children disappear every year in the hundreds, and almost 80% of the time, it is mooted that they have been trafficked. The film highlights the tragic human cost of child trafficking, as this crisis often goes unnoticed. This rallying cry is what we hope will raise awareness and prompt the audience to engage in conversation, empathy, and action regarding this dastardly crime.
